St. John Lutheran Church is pleased to present our first GAUDETE FESTIVAL on December 16, 2018. It will recreate the spirit of the original Medieval and Renaissance Gaudete Festivals. The 'crown jewels' of this concert use original carols such as "What Tidings, Messenger", "Gaudete", "There Is No Rose," "Lo, How a Rose e'er Blooming," "Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day," and "A Great and Mighty Wonder" in ancient settings and original compositions by Paul Lindblad, Carl Schalk, and Kevin Allen.

In the grand tradition of the Boar's Head Festival, there will be Renaissance dance and carols, organ, strings, bells, percussion, wall-to-wall music for congregation, choirs, and instruments, processions, tableaux, banners, costumes, special effects, and food! In a very real way, Gaudete is the ultimate Advent celebration, observing the three great 'comings' of Christ: at Bethlehem, in our hearts through word and sacrament, and as King and Judge dramatizing how God wins the battle over sin, death, and the devil.

FRIENDS OF MUSIC is a group of people interested in supporting the music ministry at St. John.  Gifts to the Friends of Music of St. John have helped fund maintenance of our hand bells and our world-class pipe organ.  Friends of Music also sponsor a Concert Series of local and nationally renowned musicians.  Admission to many of the concerts is a free-will offering.
