Meet Our Staff 

 Leonard Payton

Leonard Payton - Pastor 

After spending many years as a church musician, Pastor Payton attended Concordia Theological Seminary and entered the ministry. Pastor Payton has been happily married to Lori, his childhood sweetheart, for thirty years and they have four children. Pastor Payton likes to swim and is a USC Trojan fan.

Karen Karafa

Karen Karafa - Business Administrator

Mrs. Karafa received her B.A. degree in 1968 from Eastern Illinois University. She manages the day to day business of the church. Her behind-the-scene work provides St. John with stability and freedom to pursue its mission in the world.

 Paul Lindblad

Paul Lindblad - Director of Liturgics

Mr. Lindblad received his B.A. degree from Concordia University, River Forest. For over 30 years he has taught music to children and adults. In addition to the school groups with which he works at Walther Lutheran Academy, Mr. Lindblad directs the semi-professional adult Oak Park Concert Chorale, and the semi-professional young people's ensemble, the Paul Lindblad Choristers 

De Ann Beger

De Ann Beger - Office Manager

Mrs. Beger was raised in Iowa and graduated with a BA/English from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa in 1988. She moved to the Chicagoland area the following summer.

De Ann, her husband, and their two children live in Lyons.
