Ascension Service

Sunday Service

MONDAY, MARCH 23, 2020:

* Please let us know what two or three (or more) members of the congregation you are talking to at least every other day. We want to compile a master contact list so that we can see who is falling through the cracks and remedy that. Thanks for your help with this!

SUNDAY, MARCH 22, 2020:

Here is the link to today's Matins service

MARCH 19, 2020:

* A video update from Pastor Payton

* Pastor Payton wants us all to have joy and peace in Christ during this odd time. * We will not have an April Reporter - please check here or email from the office for April updates.

MARCH 18, 2020:

  • We are NOT having a Sunday service, but will have an online option that will take place at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning. More complete details on how to access this will be coming.

  • Be sure to check your email for these updates and I will also keep a running list on our website of all communications I have sent out.

  • We are asking for help in relaying these messages to those you know who do not have internet access.

MARCH 17, 2020:

* The Elders will be meeting this evening to make a determination on what our service schedule will be, as well as how we will be handling communion. A listserv will be going out tomorrow morning. If you are currently not on our listserv e-news but would like to be, please email the church office at

* The Lenten Lessons & Carols, as well as the soup supper that was to follow, have been canceled.

* All classrooms at St. John have been closed off to everyone and have been sanitized. These will be off-limits until we deem it safe to return to normally scheduled meetings and classes.

* Likewise, no access will be permitted on the second and third floors of the school, which are being used by the YMCA - they have suspended their programming and therefore no one will need to conduct business there. Contact the church office if you feel you need access for any reason.

* Hephzibah has canceled their spring sale.

MARCH 16, 2020:

* St. John is committed to the safety of all our members and neighbors. As a result, we have taken the sensible step to temporarily close our facility to all outside groups effective immediately. At this time, we do not know when we will be able to welcome them back. Please be patient with us.

* St. John boards should plan on not meeting in person, but rather making use of conference or email meetings.

* As of today, we intended to hold our Wednesday Lenten Service on March 18th, at 7:00 p.m. (please check back daily for updates)

* Our Parish Planning Council meets this evening and I will add updates tomorrow of any new policies that we put into place.

* Pastor Payton may be contacting you by phone or email if you live alone - please answer or if you call back, you may leave a voicemail, or send a quick email if you have that capability. We care about your wellbeing.

* We appreciate your patience and prayers as we navigate this new frontier. We are comforted in the knowledge that Jesus is Good - All the time.
